Ein Kanadier in Stams

Hi my name is Keegan Sharp and I'm a 17 year old Canadian ski racer. You also may be wondering why I'm writing this in English but those were my instructions, and I can't really write that well in German.
It was a big choice for myself and my family for me to came here to Stams but the choice was rather easy, why would anyone pass up an opportunity like this to come to the best and most well know academy there is?
So far I have been having a great time here and it didn't take much for me to adjust to a different lifestyle. I'd have to say that the biggest change was the language. Prior to coming here I already knew German but you could say I was rather far from being fluent but with the time I've been here I have noticed quite the improvements with my ability to speak and understand German. Being far away from home is always hard but there are things that can make it easier for you. Everyone here has been very kind and welcoming to me and I'm also lucky to be in a room with some pretty cool guys as well. The teachers are also very supportive and understanding and help you out every step of the way. The fact that there are all these good people here has made it much easier for me to be away from my family for such a long time. Living here is also quite comfortable as well as there is plenty of living space and lounging areas, the way everything is laid out makes it feel like you are at home.
With all this talent flowing through the school it makes for very good on and off hill training and that's the idea of this school. Everyone is always pushing each other in training and sometimes we don't even know were doing it and that's the beauty of it. With all this extra training and racing I have been able to do I have seen many things that I've ever seen before. All these different ski hills and towns I get to go to is very exciting for me because for many people in North America it is their dream to travel through Europe and I get to do that while doing the thing I love.
I'm looking forward to the rest of the year and all the adventures along the way! Keegan Sharp
